Reading the Italian menu lika a pro!
How to read an Italian menu like a pro đźđč Aperitivo, primi and secondi. Youâve probably seen these words on the menu in Italian restaurants, but what do they really mean? Here is a short overview of the Italian menu categories, just to avoid getting confused đ
đčAperitivo
Meaning the drink you ordered, plus everything from a bowl of chips to half a dinner as a free snack. Just give thanks and enjoy!
đ„Antipasti
The Italian appetizer before dinner. Bruscetta, charcuteries, olives, mozarella âŠ

đ Primi – 1st course
The first main course is generally a pasta, a risotto or a good soup. Note, if you choose spaghetti: use only the fork to spin it up. Possibly a spoon, if there is a lot of sauce that you do not want or are not allowed to leave, but never ever use a knife.
đ„© Secondi – 2nd course
Are you starting to feel full? Then you have to hide it, because now comes the second main course, with meat or fish from scratch. Mind the contorni, side dishes, that you order seperatley: fresh or grilled vegetables, garlic sautĂ©ed spinach, beans, potatoes in various forms …
đ§ Formaggi
Yes, but surely some good parmigiano, pecorino, truffle cheese or a mild Bel Paese goes down?

đź I dolci
Dessert is mandatory, donât think otherwise if the meal is to be perfected. Preferably consisting of the delicious cake baked by grandma, La Nonna, the house tiramisu, pannacotta or simply gelato, ice cream, which can also be consumed at any time between lunch and breakfast.
đ” Il conto
The bill, which always also includes coperto, i.e. an starting fee of a couple of euros.

My favourite category is of course the aperitivođ„đ€©
